What do you think About Our Chart?

L-Word creator Ilene Chaiken recently invited a bunch of people to sit down and talk about Our Chart, the social networking website based on "the chart" from the TV show The L Word.

Now that the site has been live for a while they're looking at what it is, where it is going and perhaps the most difficult question of all, who is its audience.

Interestingly, one of the questions raised was whether the site should be geared to lesbians or more broadly to all women. That question has sparked some lively responses, a few snarky ones and many that thoughtfully address the issue.

In searching the web for links to add to
Best Lesbian Links, one thing is very clear... you cannot define "lesbian" with just one sentence. Our community includes a wide range of people, just like -- image this -- the hetero community!

I visit Our Chart frequently, not for the social part of it, but to read the blogs and mine news about the L Word. I particularly enjoy the posts from some of the people they call the Guestbians. Kate Clinton and Jane Lynch are at the top of that list.

I do find that often the site does not seem to be -- as Jane Lynch put it -- "geared toward women like her." I think that part of the problem is that it's tough to appeal to everyone and when you try to you risk appealing to no one.

What do you think? The Chart handlers are looking for feedback. Now is your chance to let them know what you think and maybe even influence the future of the site

I think OurChart is a bloated. Ask me to elaborate and I would. It's not an important site, which us surprising given their resources and funding.

What is it about real people OC is afraid of?
